good news/bad news?/funny news!

Lo all!

Firstly, thanks to all those who care enough about the main server to vote in the map vote thread! keep voting! and when a clear winner is in evidence it will be banged on the server for all you n00bs to hammer to death (unless you all just press "1" when a vote comes up

)

Secondly, there has been a fair bit of unpleasentness on the Tf2 server, something I personally never thought I'd see.
This spilled over into the forums and we've been working to come to a better outcome for all over what happened in the core admin section behind the scenes.

Unfortunately, after yesterday, this is no longer possible.

I would like to thank the precious n00bs that replied to my queries today, over yesterdays events, in steam chats, for their honesty and integrity.

Actual evidence one way or the other is in, from more than one source and regular players Nige and Dal are in the process of being banned for griefing |UKMD| Dunk after being warned about their behaviour.

Now thats over with, I can now jump into Left 4 Dead, which I've been itching to play all day, as I've been dealing with the above with the other Cores and sorting out the new L4D forum section, and see if theres a mid to rush somewhere!!

Thirdly, I welcome our first "n00b of the week" for a hell of a long time.

Css Main server - Help Required

Lo all, due to the main server taking an age to get going in the mornings, we have stripped off all the maps from the rotation that would scare away the casual gamer, and as such, its no longer taking until 11am/12pm to get more than 8 n00bs on the server.

The rotation as it stands now is as follows:
N00b Friendly

de_dust2_unlimited
de_dust2
cs_office_unlimited_oc
de_desert_atrocity_v3
mx_glass
de_nightfever
de_dust_ukmd
de_pasdequartier_mx
cs_italy_tactik2_mx

The downside, is there is now a distinct lack of variety. Admins with the map change ability can still put on maps like Greensleaves, Bluecorridor, damaged, 4th street and strata if they so choose to do so, to break the monotomy a bit in the evenings when the server is fuller and a hit in player count doesn't take much to replace.

Also, map times.

Thanks to |UKMD| CAWA, All maps are now only 30 minutes each, with de_mx_glass set at 15 minutes, and de_dust2_unlimited set at 40 minutes. (its still the most popular map we host, but 1 hour is too long)

If, however, you think that a particular mapvote is full of rubbish and none of the maps are to your liking, I urge you to select Glass, even if you hate it, as it is only 15 minutes long and it will not take long for another, different map vote to appear.

That said,

4 out of the 9 maps on offer are sandy. or "dust" maps. thats a bit much.
so
We are looking at adding an additional map to the rotation, something that is familiar enough to not scare away the early morning gamers, but is also not dust

Please use the comments to this news item to post map suggestions (yes |UKMD| Eden, we've already got yours

) and I will add them to a website vote with the maps |UKMD| CAWA and |UKMD| Dec1211 went and looked at yesterday on other servers (other servers?

A Big Thank You

Fight Night

Well, as well as much n00bness, carnage, and "gibbing" last night accross a variety of maps on TF2, we managed, successfully to hold a minutes silence around the cart at 9:30pm on PL_Goldrush, followed by a mass melee brawl!

although |UKMD| Dunk had to ban a twat who didn't see why we should pay our respects to "a bunch of old fogeys we will never meet" what a twat. F.O. please mr "sloth456" you are the scum of the earth.

Amid the destruction and cart pushing, we recruited a flying (with the help of a "few" slaps

) Heavy, and also a flying (again, bind k "sm_slap ribbed" FTW

) sniper.

So a big warm welcome to a pair of n00bs :

Its good to see that not only |UKMD| show love for the servers, the community thanks you all.

Damn Shame

Unfornunately, not every one shows this. after more than a few requests to adjust his name, |UKMD| Mikem, has been banned for pushing his luck, advertising on the main server and showing a very, very poor attitude to a core admin.

A compromise had been reached, which IMHO was very generous of the core admins, considering a few wanted to ban him straight away, and he threw it back in our face when we weren't looking.

Tee Eff Too Fight night Tuesday 11/11

Not sure how likely it is going to work, but in amongst all the usual mayhem and craziness, shall we try for a minute silence on the central cap on fastlane or badlands? about 9pm? we all gather and pay our respects. then once the minutes over, we melee each other to bits.

That Was The Week That Was

N00b Night Out

If you haven't seen already, what started as a few local core admins getting together for a drink turned into an 11 n00b free for all in the middle of cheltenham, with a few extra people that lived nearby invited into the mix. (did you not wonder why I started a "UKMD where you at" thread

After a few teething problems in the first few hours when it was released, things have settled down, and a quality game has emerged.

If you've pre ordered this, then you are currently enjoying the demo, as I am, Screaming your heads off as 50 zombies belt it round the corner at you at the speed of light!

The servers work in a funny way, and only fit 4 people onto each at the moment, so our two (yes!! two!!) L4D servers are currently passworded for UKMD members only

I can, however, tell you that watching Ironman for the fourth time is still just as good as when i watched it the first time

Imagine This:
Going to a massive game server, where everyone knows everyone else, its all taken in a good manner and there to be enjoyed. The way Gaming should be. Thats what we do every day!

Like None Other
Team MX is like no other 'clan' ever conceived, we are a team, Team MX. We're probably the largest UK clan ever, we have over 170 team members with well over 130 of them actively playing. Team MX is over a year old now, celabrating its first birthday in November last year. Headed up by the worlds biggest n00b, MoggieX and backed up by some outstanding n00blets, known as the core admins.

We don't recruit twats!
Quite frankly we ain't interested in matches, or 'twats' (mainly gobby teanagers, you know the ones), if this is something you're looking for, or are, you're not in the right place at all. However, IF you are a utter n00b (like I am, MoggieX) and enjoy the 'whole' online gaming expereince, where you can make friends from all over the world, then you have found yourself a new home.

A Little More About Team MX
Also quite interestingly, every Team MX member gets a limited amount of admin privilages, its been the norm for people to pay for such rights, here you get them free and you can also feel at ease that there is only small group of admins, the core admins that have the access to any player abuse commands. So you can play in realtive safety, knowing that the server you're on is patrolled by an army of admins. We have members from the ages of 9 to well past retirement, probably with an average age twice that of other clans, a prime example that this is no ordinary clan.

Joining Team MX
We don't let just any old person join, you have to prove yourself over a long period of time. If you're turning up here thinking you're going to join us in a few days, you're sorely mistaken. In most cases it takes over a month to be recruited and thats just the lucky ones! People (not players) rarely leave Team MX, if they do, we never really seem to get rid of them, lol.
